Tarka Abraham
I first met Tarka when she was still in Ponies and have recently had a really good day with her exchanging views and taking about Bitting and re vamping her Informed Designs bits with some new ideas and new bits
She is a pleasure to work with and a real team player I look forward to working with her in the future

My name is Tarka Abraham. I am a 19 year old event rider. I pride myself on producing and training event horses from a young age. To keep my horses happy, myself safe and us performing as a team, it goes without saying that we need the very best kit!
The 2020 season was short but sweet for us: highlights included several National top 2 placings and a top 15 placing in the 2*L at Bicton Arena International. 2020 was a challenging year for many, which made our team feel especially lucky to finish our season in Portugal for the Barocca Winter Eventing Tour. We had a very exciting and successful trip with three of my self-produced horses making their international Debut: Kiwi (Gundula’s Gold), Papaya (Jarisa) and Squash (Vamoose); we returned with 6 top ten placings under our belt including a win and an International 3rd and 4th!
Now the 2021 season is off to a great start with 100% clear XC rounds and several top ten placings, from our team so far. Two of my horses are aiming at 3* and Open Intermediate under 21 classes this year and I have some lovely young horses that will be out competing in the Nexgen and BE age classes. Very exciting times ahead!
Across all my horses , ranging from unbroken 3 year olds to ex-racers to problem horses to keen event horses, I choose to ride solely in Informed Designs bits because I believe my horses are more comfortable and the bits help me deliver clear aids for training and competition. I know my horses have happy mouths because they have settled heads, mouths and tongues and they are smoothly responsive to pressure. Beneficially, there is a huge range of well thought out bits to cater for every horse as an individual and paired with this, Hilary is a fountain of knowledge to help you to make the right choice. Throughout the whole range, however, there is no compromise on the horses’ comfort with a lot of research having gone into correctly shaped mouth-pieces and non-pinching cheeks. What I like the most about Informed Designs is that the bits work with the same pressure and release training method that is so effective with horses. As a result, when you use the correct bit, it is constantly encouraging your horse to work in the desired frame and contact. This leaves us as riders feeling the need to do less on our end of the reins.
